Age groups

There is a real LEDON playground packed with age-appropriate play activities for every age group. Through focusing on age-appropriate activities, we ensure that the play activities support children’s natural development at their exact stage of development.

It is important to know which age group the playground has to cater for. Play equipment which is too challenging for young children may mean that they will not be able to use some of the equipment and activities, such as a rope ladder that is beyond their physical abilities. Consequently, their playground experience might not be as positive as it would otherwise have been. This can affect their self-confidence, and they might not want to have another go, which will negatively affect their development. Similarly, older children will not be challenged or develop enough if the playground activities are designed for younger children, and as a result they end up feeling bored.

The play value and educational benefits of playgrounds therefore depend on the play activities being age-appropriate and the playgrounds being designed accordingly. There are several age groups between 0 and 9+ years. If, as an institution, residential neighbourhood or municipality you need to embrace a wide age group, our playgrounds can be adapted accordingly. In such cases, it is imperative that the playground is divided into different play zones, and that the play equipment can stimulate and support children large and small.

The different age groups are divided up as follows:

Age group: 0-3 years
