Children practise their cooperation and communication skills when working together to get the carousel or spinner going – “Shall we spin it to the right or left? And how fast shall we go?” Spinning play equipment is thus fun for children, while teaching them to cooperate.
Fast-moving carousels and spinners strengthen children’s motor skills and balance. Moving their heads quickly in different directions stimulates the children’s vestibular sense, which is key to spatial orientation.
A good vestibular sense is vital for the development of motor skills, but also for mental and academic skills. In addition, carousels and spinners engage every muscle in the body to get them going and to stay on the equipment once it’s spinning round. This helps to strengthen children’s gross motor skills, while giving them confidence in their abilities and courage to take on new challenges.
